Products

Dried and salted codfish is Scan-Mar´s main product, and we use predominantly Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua), saithe (Pollachius virens), tusk (Brosme brosme) and ling (Molva molva), but also some Pacific cod (Gadus macrocephalus).

We produce the traditional whole-fish the same way it has been produced and sold for generations; the fish is splitted (removal of backbone), then salted, and finally dried artificially in tunnels.

Our production is differentiated In order to accommodate the preferences of the different markets we operate in, enabling us to deliver a quality product with a high demand.

We can deliver several degrees of dryness, normally ranging from STORAGE to 7/8. 

The quality is sorted in SUPERIOR/IMPERIAL, UNIVERSAL, POPULAR and MIXED (Portugal: PRIMEIRA/SORTIDO).

A variety of packaging is used with our brands PRINCIPE and SCAN-MAR; either wooden cases of 50 kgs and 25 kgs net, or in cardboard cartons of 25 kgs and 10 kgs net.

In addition to the production of dried and salted codfish, we also produce some quantities of migas (Pacific cod), and salted backbones (in order to utilise as much of the raw material as possible).
